Dermestid beetles are by far the most efficent method of cleaning your trophy skulls. Unlike boiling, beetle cleaning removes all flesh while leaving the bones in their original state. Even heavily damaged skulls or skulls from very young animals can be cleaned without fear of them falling apart or disintegrating.

Here is a Pharaoh Quail skull that was cleaned by beetles, it is less than two inches long.

This was a Wyoming whitetail that was shot and not found for four days. It was totally dehydrated and chewed on by coyotes.
